hi all
how do i connect a CCTV camera that is 2.4ghz to my sky 5g router.
i tried to connect the camera and the message from the camera app was ' we do not support 5g connection' also i have wireless heating that will only connect to a 2.4ghz connection.
But if the router is changed to 2.4ghz does the 5g for streaming fast still work?

Yes. You'll to go into each device and re allocate the devices you want on 5ghz to the new ssid. Devices that were on 2.4 are not affected. Just go to those devices and enter the existing wifi password and that should be you

You will need to split the wifi to give seperate ssid's for 2.4 and 5ghz

Once you sign in to the hub go to wifi then go to 5ghz and click unsychronise 2.4 and 5ghz then where it gives the ssid rename it to differentiate it from the 2.4ghz
- Log onto router and go to wifi
- Go to 5ghz band and untick synchronise 2.4ghz and 5ghz
- Go to 5ghz ssid and add -5g at the end
- Save
- Go to individual devices and assign wifi band accordingly

ahh ok, pretty simple, so just add 5GHz to the end of the SSID name and boom done
once iv changed the SSID does that mean i have to change every connected device wifi connection to the new name?

sorry one more thing, so once its changed does that mean all the 5ghz devices will be offline until i connect them to the new SSID name?

Yes. The old ssid doesn't exist anymore at least as far as 5ghz devices go. 2.4ghz shouldn't be affected as its ssid and associated wifi password remain unchanged. You can still use the same password on the new ssid

What happens when I'm connecting a new 2.4ghz device? Do I just connect as normal using the new SSID.

If its 2.4 only then you continue using the old ssid whilst devices that use both are free to change (band steer) to the stronger signal
