because Sky cannot work out what is wrong (I even had an engineer come

I eventually fixed the problem with the help of an Asian man
by checking the speed of my desktop and there it was set at
100 Mbps so I swapped it out to 1Gbps and hay presto max speed

Re: broadband Gigafast
Is that over Cat5e ethernet cable directly to the Sky Hub from a device you know has a gigabit ethernet chipset?
Seeing 94Mbs throughput would typically indicate that at least one component is limited to 100Mbs rather than gigabit.

Re: broadband Gigafast
@davidoakley55 a lot depends on how you are testing speedsxas the internet speed tests record the slowest part of the transfer so for example if you test using a device connectrd by WiFi you often just measure tge speed of the wifi connection in your home.
However a speed of 94Mb/s sounds suspiciously like the cable between the ONT and the hub is only providing a. 100Mb/s connection not a 1,000Mb/s a gigabit link would.. Ethernet cables can be easily damaged and if one of the 8 connectoers break the cable will only carry 100Mb/s which after overheads would give speed tests results in the low 90s.
