Will sky wifi max work with sky q in an outbuilding
I have sky q, with 3 mini boxes. One of the mini boxes is in an outbuilding (around 80 feet away from my house...... brick building) hard wired to my main sky q router (via an Ethernet cable). This setup has worked great for the outbuilding. Never had an issue with wifi strength. I'm no expert but I thought the mini's acted as a wireless access point, so hard wiring it in (like I have) was a really good option for me.
I've just recieved my brand new WiFi max router and pod thingy, and reading a lot of the posts here am worried that if I connect it, the wifi in my outbuilding will no longer work............ from what I've read, the WiFi max system does not work with the the sky q mini boxes (mesh network). Is this true, ie am I about to break my wifi signal in my
outbuilding?
if so, what do I do? Will sky provide me with an access point (whatever that is) for my outbuilding?

@Helensmith19876 unfortunstely the new white hub is not compatable the Sky Q mesh wifi so the Q mini can no longer act as a wifi hotspot. Best solution is to buy a cheap wfi access point with 2 Ethernet ports onecfor the connection back to the hub the second to hook up the Q mini.

Thanks for your reply. I have no idea why the sky person thought this was a good idea........... I explained to them my situation, and they said it would be fine.
do you (/anybody) have any links for these access point thingys........ having a hunt on Amazon, I'm not sure what is good and what is bad?
thanks for your help

Re: Will sky wifi max work with sky q in an outbuilding
Another question....... the wifi access point thing, does that act as a different wifi network? I loved the sky q network, as it just behaved as one big network, so no switching between networks all t

@Helensmith19876 you can go back to Sky and reject the white hub and require they allow you to go back to the old black hub they wont like it but it has been allowed before. I agree with you that the agent misadvised you as they should have pointed outvthe issue with Sky Q boxes.
Any third party access point will have a different nerwork so devices wint roam seamlessly but shouldcswitch as you move assuming thecsignal from the hub is not veryvstrong. Something like this should work if configured in access point mode ( a lot of these units are really routers but can be switched to operate as access points).
