Will my ordered sky broadband service activate when my current suppliers contract ends?

TalkTalk broadband contract ends 28/10. Used Uswitch to find sky deal. Placed order with Sky and confirmation email talked about an activation date prior to 28/10. I want to be clear that I want the TalkTalk contract to end before my Sky service starts. How can I do this?

@PhillipYeadon  If you've been given a go live date (this should be in emails from sky or your order tracking page)  that will be the date, the service can't be connected before the old service ends.  There will be a downtime of a few hours.

Re: Will my ordered sky broadband service activate when my current suppliers contract ends?

The confirmation email talked about a broadband activation date of 6/10. My current TalkTalk contract terminates on 28/10. Will I definitely not be paying 2 suppliers for the period between 6/10 and 28/10?

@PhillipYeadon  Sky should be taking over the existing line from your current provider.

Talk talk apparently uses CityFibre as well as Openreach. If the former installed yours then talk talk needs to be contacted seperately as openreach cannot transfer the line over to sky

In which case we strongly advise an element of overlap  of maybe 2 weeks in case of openreach delays which are not unheard of

Sky should have activated yesterday once engineer had done the works yesterday morning but it hasn't as fault on line 😡😡😡 talktalk cut my service at midnight last night the same day I should have connected to sky. They wouldn't do it before.
