Re: Wifi Max user review

Since writing my initial comments I have since discovered reading other comments that the Sky Max WiFi hub does not work as a mesh system as did the Sky Q hub I had. So I have a main Q TV box and 3 Q mini boxes plus I had two extender boosters on the old Q hub which worked perfectly in our large house, so effectively had a mesh system of five devices all talking to each other as a mesh system all over the house. I now just have the Max hub and one Pod extender, so a WiFi distribution system now of two devices rather than five. No wonder there's now dead spots all over the house. I feel mis-sold. An engineer is scheduled to provide additional extender hubs. Disappointing experience.

Be very careful saying such stuff, the believers don't take too kindly to the heresy of criticising Sky in this parish 😱 they'll demand you're burned at the stake.

Re: Wifi Max user review

Well that's just the way it is, it may well work ok after an engineer visits and fits one or more additional extender Pods.  Given that Sky themselves setup the previous system with a multiple device mesh system you might have thought from their records that they could see that the Max basic system wasn't going to be enough in this size house without additional extenders. I didn't ask for it, they pushed it at contract renewal. I expect to rely on their professional expertise. Result is some 3 weeks of rubbish connectivity. Trumpian threats of heresy for criticism of Sky is amusing.

Re: Wifi Max user review

If I've said it once I've said it a thousand times, I'm going to dig my heels in and stick with Q for as long as they are transmitting through that satellite.

I see so many people in here who have migrated over to the streaming service voicing their discontent and unhappiness after having made the switch. You don't go a day without seeing folk proclaiming their regrets for having left Q in here.

You could rip my finger nails out with pliers and I'd still refuse to buy that pony Sky Glass unit for all sorts of reasons. So it's safe to say that will never ever happen and as for Sky Stream, well I'll resist that till the bitter end because it doesn't do what I want and need whilst Sky Q does.

I know the believers get irritated whenever someone says that but it is what is, if it grinds their gears that's their problem 👊🏻

Re: Wifi Max user review

The sky max cannot handle the speeds of 500mb or 900mb the wifi from the hub is poor.

Re: Wifi Max user review

@Goodfellow1 Would be good proof of such a failure, and plenty other's may possibly say yes or no! There are not many devices even the best that can keep wireless wifi up on a sustained feed, Ethernet yes no issues to that!

My Sky Max hub can deliver 850Mb/s over WiFi so no idea what makes you think it can't exceed 500Mb/s. Of course you need a device supporting WiFi6 and be in the same area as speeds drop if the signal has to pass through walls etc but thst applies to all WiFi devices. Whether any device really needs those speeds in reality is debatable. The full 900Mb/s is available over Ethernet.

Re: Wifi Max user review

That's not the point sky is misleading there customers and getting away with selling 900mbs with the max that cannot handle that speeds, please stop trying to protect a company that does nothing to correct it mistakes  I have been with them some time now, and I am still having problems with my broadband and my tv package especially the sky puck. But we are still expected to pay through the nose for these broken products, tell me why we should put up with being scammed?

Re: Wifi Max user review

@Goodfellow1 Who knows, not happy then your choice is to go! There is no protection the Forum is all customers like yourself, difference is some just know what they are doing and stand up are counted and say outright what is what! I did the same with EE quit after 11 months on a 24 month contract, had enough, paid the penalty and left simple!

Re: Wifi Max user review

If as you say EE did not give you the service you were paying for like me, why on earth did you pay them full contract payment as they breach there contract with you?

Re: Wifi Max user review

@Goodfellow1 It's really simple how are you going to prove they are not, and trust me they have way better lawyers and far more resources than any one else, read you contract you signed upto and make a decission, 10 Months in with sky now, and 19 years before that with virtually zero issues, and now not one single incident since return apart from wifi calling is just not the greatest, but is it mobile or broadband that is to blame, it's 95% off the way there, few work arounds now known and avoided, when possible!

Re: Wifi Max user review

All you have to do is be honest and complain about what is wrong, record your conversation keep them as evidence, most of the customer people are honest and say if there is a problem which you keep as avoidance and when you say you have had enough of the poor quality of service  then you have the proof,  normally the provider let's you go without penalty,  if they don't then take them to the Ombudsman or court, with your evidence of poor service and you will win.

@Goodfellow1 Wish you all the luck with your next BB/TV ISP that you go to and hopefully have little to no problems with them both streaming and general BB use, just do your due diligence on all, and each ISP's Forum's are a good starting ground, you will find me on the EE if you need as JimM11. 👍👌
