Re: Wifi Max user review

Thank you for all the usual and candid information mate, it's much appreciated.

It goes without saying whenever you switch ISP you're rolling the dice to a degree, all the more so if the one leaving has always been reliable.

I'm probably going to stick with my Sky Q I suppose so hopefully they can make me an improved offer.

Seeing BT are pushing private punters over to EE anyway there's no real point scrubbing that now. Fingers crossed we don't get any drama with the Smart Hub Plus when the switch happens week after next🤞

Re: Wifi Max user review

Got mine yesterday - arranged to return today. Had nothing but problems with it. Some devices had reduced speed using WiFi, some would simply stop receiving data even when the router was still connected.

It also made ZERO difference to the strength of the wifi in my property, contrary to the claims.

Re: Wifi Max user review

@Kreem had you been using the regular Sky Broadband Hub before getting the Max yesterday then?

Re: Wifi Max user review

@Kreem it seems I've dodged a bullet by switching to EE, touch wood, as that goes through on Wednesday.

Believe me, I praying that I don't have any drama with the Smart Hub Plus when the switch happens 🙏

Re: Wifi Max user review

Hi

Hope you don't mind me asking, just got one, but no activation date? Yet.  Do I use it alongside my old one. Sorry if I sound a bit thick 🤣

No, usually you would swap new for old.

Re: Wifi Max user

I have just today used my sky app to update to the sky max hub as they offered it me in app. But I have sky W boxes? Am I best cancelling it then as they won't be compatible? I'll not be happy if they've offered it me if they're not compatible!

Re: Wifi Max user review

From what I understand Sky Max is notavaliable for Sky Q as the Max router is wifi 6 .All of the Q boxes including mini are not. I was told it is not avaliable for Q customers. I was told this when I upgraded to full fibre.

I have

Sky Q 1 tera, 2x mini boxes , 2x booster and full fibre 1gig

Re: Wifi Max user review

Think I'll give them a call tomorrow! Not sure why they'd offer it me and accept my order if it's not compatible.

Sky will now offer Max at addresses with a main Q box and up to one Mini box.

They won't do so where there's more than one Mini or Q booster.

The problem isn't related to WiFi 6 directly: it's that Q was designed back in 2014-15 and released in early 2016 with a semi-proprietary 'hybrid mesh' which does some rather odd things network-wise.

Re: Wifi Max user review

Do you know why it's only 1 mini box and booster? Also does this mean diffrent SSID for the router.?
