WiFi and broad band drop out over last three years new router fibre max upgrades and max pods
After 5 routers on fibre upgrade to full fibre and max router sent new max pod boosters I still getting intermittent broadband and telephone line drop out since new max router with max pod boosters these max pods have been checked by two Sky engineers a spectrum analysis of radio frequencies where checked today this morning pods moved to new locations but still getting these pods dropping WiFi link with router and going off line this is causing certain issues with my ring door bell cam and chime also going off line I've rebooted everything from bt outreach interface . Max router , max pods and reset devices that was dropping of WiFi to re link to WiFi . But still these useless max pods are going off line they are not fit for use I'm absolutely fed up with sky's support over last three years forcing me into up grade costing more to rectify failing WiFi and broadband telephone connections and still having trouble daily after today's cost by engineer who checked radio signals band width within th 2.5mhs range .
I am at the end off the road with sky broadband fed up with this issue not being rectified after this long drawn out service.

Re: WiFi and broad band drop out over last three years new router fibre max upgrades and max pods
@Horus97 whether the Sky WiFi Max pods work or not is usually down to the layout and type of construction of your home. The pods need a good connection back to the hub,. That connection uses a relativelly high frequency signal in the 5GHz band which in older homes with solid internal walls is difficult. Thexsystem was orginallt drveloped in the US where homes are normally wood framed.
I tried the Sky WiFi Max system when it was launched and found similar issues in my own home due to its layout and split levels.. My solution was to buy and use third party equipment to get good wifi distribution. The 3 unlt wifi mesh system I chose uses both a 2.4GHz and 5GHz signal for backhaul between the satellite units. These are not as theoretically fast as the 5GHz system Sky uses but in my property gives a stable wifi signal in every room withample bandwidth (over 100Mb/s in every room).
However some properties particularly those over 100 years old any WiFi system will struggle and other technologies are required. You may want to investigate Powerline Networking equipment which uses your home's mains wiring to connect back to the hub. While again not as fast as wifi max these system can get a stable signal to distant rooms. Video doorbells are a particular issue as they are normally attached to a double thickness of external wall which inevitably reduces the wifi signal.. The ideal solution is to hardwire your home with ethernet cables but that is normally impractical

I still think these sky pods are rubbish it doesn't much make any difference where you plug in these pods whether it's central in the hall opposite the room where the router is or in the kitchen or back room they are so intermittent flashing white dot I've had better signal with older routers but more drops on the telephone line .
I just find these small pods a waist of time and don't think they are fit for purpose my neighbours BT signal is stronger than my Sky signal through a solid brick wall.

@Horus97 the Sky Max pods use a closed 5GHz signal to connect to the hub. That is great in a house with partition internal walls but far less good in a traditionally built older property. If thst applies in your case you may well be better off buying snd using your own home wifi solution as I do.myself.
