Wi fi max

We have an old 4.2 hub where we live and we only receive internet via telephone line with no fibre and as there are only 3 properties that are connected to the line it's not going to happen anytime soon as no one else is interested

I was considering upgrading the hub but wondered if we should add the boosters

our current package checks out as gold but we only get 2 bars on the signal strength

it's an old bungalow with thick solid walls and we have wired the boxes to the hub to get a good signal

currently if I need to access internet in lounge on phone or iPad often have to turn tv off so I can connect to internet

will new hub and boosters improve this

@Babs1955 the new Sky Max hub and its booster pods usexa 5GHz signal to communicate which is great in properties thst are suitable but far less so in older properties with solid walls. The second issue is that the new system does not fully support the Sky Q tv boxes so if you have those I would not recommend you to switch as you will lose the use of the wifi hotspots the tv boxes produce. Given your limited external bandwidth you have due to your partial fibre service it would seem not to be the best idea.

If you have already got Ethernet cables to the more distant rooms then a better approach maybe to add a wifi access point to those connetions say in the most distant room from the hub.

Re: Wi fi max

@Babs1955 As you are never going to be a speed merchant with the system you should also consider wireless wi-fi powerline, a few dotted relevant area's will make a huge difference and give you the location wi-fi you need but not dependant on getting signal's from your sky hub like AP's or RE's.
