Wi-Fi Connectivity

So, I live in an old terraced stone cottage built around the 1840's. I've been experiencing Wi-Fi dropouts on connected devices for a good number of years now, the main issue though is connectivity between the Sky Q Box and Sky Q Mini especially around 10-11pm. Needless to say I've contacted Sky numerous times, Sky Engineers have been and gone. Router, Sky boxes and router replaced a number of times including the CAT 5 between Sky Q Box and Sky Router (the Sky Q Mini and router are about 2 meters apart through a studded wall and connect via wifi). The last conversation I had with them concluded in them saying nothing more can be done, leaving me to it...

I'm not one for giving up and being in North Wales, there aren't many providers who can match Sky. So, a few moths ago I purchased a Sky Q Wi-FI Booster off ebay (Sky wouldn't provide me with one) and connected the booster to a Netgear switch together with the TV, Sky Q box, CAT5 from the router and disabled Wi-Fi on the Sky Q box and that seemed to improve with dropouts being less often. I therefore thought there was a glimmer of hope in going full fibre which was very new in our area.

I moved across to Sky Fibre and yes the internet sped up but, the connectivity issues were still there...

I recently met a (non BT or Sky) commercial network engineer who had a look for me and suggested static IP's for both the Sky boxes and  change Wi-Fi frequencies, he thought there were too many lease renewals (I think thats how he explained it).

I've done the Static IP's on the router and Sky boxes, changed the frequencies reverted everything back to how first Sky Q was installed and touch wood, its been 6 days without any form of dropout or connectivity issues.

This now brings me to the current issue, which to my knowledge is not affecting me. But said network engineer showed me there were issues on the router albeit early hours of the morning and suggested contacting Sky. Could someone explain the meaning of the following attachement please - is there an issue or is this typical of how the Sky Router works?

I'm hoping that anyone will read this may gain some useful info or relate to the issues experienced, because I cant believe I'm the only person to experience the connectivity issues. I'm also hoping the Sys Log info is nothing to be concerned about....

Re: Wi-Fi Connectivity

@Fromby_1907 Logical Port 8 is the physical Port 1 on the back off the sky hub, so the device that you have connected whatever that is, is either disconnecting, losing power or doing something that is causing it to reset it's self and the sky Hub is seeing that.

Whatever you have connected on port 1 is what you need to look at!

Not sure what the sky Q and the mini times are but Eco mode operation would be sure fire to look at, sometimes called standby mode, drops to low power and may just mess with Ethernet connection!

Re: Wi-Fi Connectivity

Thank you for the swift response. the device was the NAS and the internet cable wasn't fully home. The only strange bit was why 5am ish? Not expecting an answer to that but releived its nothing to my initial coneectivity issues - which for the moment have not returned, 6 days and counting...

Re: Wi-Fi Connectivity

@Fromby_1907 You can take a look again at the log tomorrow and see what is happening, and as you say why 5am is a question you may know, auto backup running around that time etc... Normally seen when ports are connecting / disconnecting so if you pull the cable out will record off, and when you push it back in it will say on and connected again. Log is not that big with auto write over 24hrs is about the norm that can be seen with the general logging that goes on! But you are well aware as at least you know how to get to it and check!👍
