Why are prices so different
I pay £48.50 per month for Broadband and Talk. My friend pays £29. We have compared our accounts and they are exactly the same. She is not a new customer. She's been with them 8 Years and mine shows 7 years. How are these differences possible? I can get no sense from customer service. They only say that each customer is individual.

That's correct. It depends on the broadband package, the Sky Talk tariff you're both on and the negotiating skills of you both.

As I said, we have exactly the same service. It's not about negotiation because I pushed it to the point of saying I will go to another service, but she was still adamant.

Negotiating will still be a factor.

That suggests at least four rounds of recontracting each, which is plenty of scope for pricing to diverge.

Re: Why are prices so different
@Siannii Every two years someone has done real good resigning up for the 24 months and managed to keep good discount's you say they are like for like so have NO call packages applied as those do cost extra, £20 extra for the all inclusive. Not happy price wise then it's time to go and find a better deal as a new customer with a new ISP especially if no longer in contract penalty free!

No. None. I don't use the phone. Have asked to remove, but they say it has to be there and is no different pricewise. So yes, it is time to go.

Which would suggest I also have that option but not according to customer service.

Re: Why are prices so different
@Siannii Everything is listed on the bill, you cannot remove the talk but that is free, the additional i had as an addon was this
Sky Talk Anytime Extra at an additional cost off £16.50 / month, that was on top off everything else... You may just be paying full price now and sky will not give you any discount on your package, as you don't say even what you have!
Pretty sure the full package price for me goes to £46 at the end off the 24 months, but that is now without the annual price increases so who knows what iy will be come that time!

Re: Why are prices so different
Sky Talk is bundled together with Sky Broadband. You can't cancel the Talk side of things without cancelling Broadband as well. Just make sure you're on the Sky Pay As You Talk tariff (call Sky if you're not). That way if you make no calls there are no Sky Talk charges. (The Pay As You Talk tariff is the default tariff when you join).
