Why Sudden Drop Of Speed?
Hello All. I upgraded to Sky Full Fibre around 2 weeks ago. Everything working perfectly and running consistantly at 150 mbps. All good until yesterday (Saturday), when Ookla Speed Test revealed a sudden drop of speed, down to approx 50 mbps ! Broadband Full Fibre with a new Broadband Router supplied by Sky. Waited until this morning (Sunday) and Sky Service Checker says the speed is still running a very acceptable 152mbps, as at 10.00am this morning. Tried another third party speed checker and again, no more than 50mbps revealed. Rebooted the router and this made absolutely no difference. What do you think is going on and why is the Sky Service Checker at odds with the actual speed I am getting on my desktop ? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Will phone Sky in two days time, but don't want to be fobbed off. Everything working perfectly well, up to two days ago.

Re: Why Sudden Drop Of Speed?
Hello All. I am pleased to report that I am now back on full speed, at around 150mbps. I really don't understand, but very pleased, nevertheless ! Sorry to have bothered anyone on this subject. But I'm still very interested how this came about and wondering whether I should take take any action, next time! (if it happens again). Many thanks to everyone.

Re: Why Sudden Drop Of Speed?
@NicholasLBH speedtests record the slowest part of the link from the device to the server. The most common issue is the WiiFi link in your home where speeds depend on the layout of your home and the type of construction and moving a few feet could explain your drop or tge presence of interference. The only reliable way to test speeds is to use a device connected by an Ethernet cable with nothing else using the link which cannot be assumed as devices often use bandwidth to update while otherwise iidle.
It is theoretically possible for full fibre services to lose speed but it is very unusual Sky run a daily test of speed to your hub and you can see the recentvtest results by opening the service checker in the My Sky app and clicking on the broadband link.

Re: Why Sudden Drop Of Speed?
Hello Chrisee. Many thanks for your reply. I am back now on the full expected download speed, which is great. Howevever, my main query was why two third party speed checkers both recorded a speed of around 50mbps, whereas the SKY service checker said I was getting my expected speed of around 150mbps. And soon after posting my message yesterday, normal service had been resumed ! Is it a bit of a mystery. But why the discrepancy between what SKY say I am getting and the independent speed checks? Is that possible ? All perfectly good at the moment.
