What happens to wi-fi phone in emergency/power cut?

I have Sky Broadband and wi-fi and the service generally is fine BUT I am a bit concerned because my (copper) landline has been removed and I am now reliant on the internet. My wife and I are in our 70's and vulnerable so what happens if there is a power cut? I have read that we should have had a battery back up fitted when our system was swapped but I don't think this has been done so how do I check/resolve this?

Hi @Daiscouse

When selling you the product Sky would/should have run through a few questions with you in regards to emergency access to telephones. If you have sufficient mobile coverage in your area then this counts as an emergency access line therefore no battery backup would be fitted.

An Uninterruptable Power Supply is typically a fairly substantial box plugged into a mains connection on one side and the ISP router on the other: if you have one you'd know it.
