Weak, intermittent wifi

I live in a 2 bed, 600 ft2 flat over one floor. I have never had WiFi cut out as often as it has since I switched to sky. I work from home and now have to run an ethernet cable through to be able to stay connected. I have used the signal checker multiple times, no problem is ever found, even when not a single device is able to connect. Its starting to feel like a manufactured issue to self the WiFi boost.

@_Yvette_ using ethernet cables is sensible if working from home it's not a compromise simply a better connection.

Flats can easilyhave 8 or more WiFi networks within range so interference is inevitable. The 2.4GHz band can have at maximum 4 networks within range no interference. As we all place greater feloance on internet connection interference issues get worse. The latest WiFi standards do try to address these issues by using higher frequency carriers in the 5GHz band but these signals have less range which helps with interference but are often blocked by the internal walls of your flat.

Re: Weak, intermittent wifi

Ive had multiple broadband suppliers while living here and never had issues with a console being unable to connect.

It would be one thing to choose a stronger connection with the ethernet cable, but some days it's the only way to connect. I use twice as much data on my phone as my phone cant always connect either.

Its not the usual for a block of six flats at all.

Re: Weak, intermittent wifi

@_Yvette_ Have a look at the link below and see if you can post up the hub stat's as per the example, hard to say if you have a poor wi-fi signal or if you are having a line fault! Just allow the fields to all fill up before you capture them all!

How to read your Sky Hub statistics

If you also happen to see the hub when you have an issue, the 4 lights on it all Green unless you have no Digital Voice that would always be out!

This link providers information about the coloured lights on the various hubs
