Re: Watchman SENSiT Smart WiFi Tank Level Monitoring Kit

I am not a current user of sky but came across rhia forum. have a watchman sensit monitoring a remote site heating oil tank- which is why I need the remote access via Wi-Fi etc.

My system has not been working since the 21st Feb 2025- I have tried the system on different wifi networks with no change in response - ie no connection / red led. The only two times it worked and I received one reading each time was when I emailed them to let them know I had an issue . Within a couple of hours of each email I had one level reading back but then nothing since . Quite clearly an issue their end . Really inconvenient it not working - so now thinking how to get it replaced and what other products are available out there - even thinking is there any way of hacking the RF protocol on the sensor and create my own wifi/ internet interface

Re: Watchman SENSiT Smart WiFi Tank Level Monitoring Kit

I think you can decode using an add and rtl433 - I was going to investigate doing that with my watchman alarm before upgrading - but thought the sensit would be easier.
must say I am surprised that they haven't fixed this yet; working in the (software) industry this is the kind of stuff we'd be all over ahead of anything else!

I think the same endpoint is probably used by their more expensive commercial sensors too

Re: Watchman SENSiT Smart WiFi Tank Level Monitoring Kit

Thanks for the reply. I have decoded a few RF signals before with a reasonable success rate using an arduino and rf board  but occasionally I come up against an impossible one . I hope though that they get it sorted before then . I cannot see a lot of other products with similar functionality on the web . I will keep sending emails and hopefully they will get it sorted out - otherwise a refund will be requested if not sorted within a month

Re: Watchman SENSiT Smart WiFi Tank Level Monitoring Kit

7th March 13:34 was the last reading after I sent them an email at 08:34 the same day to say it still wasn't reading .

I will email again this morning

@EdC1299 @maybe+jb @Phonebox @fancyabrew Got a reading at 01.30hrs this morning. Anyone else got lucky?

No email notification though... only ever had 2 of those!

Unable to accurately predict when my new tank will run out with these erratic readings... particularly worrying as it is significantly smaller than my old tank.

Re: Watchman SENSiT Smart WiFi Tank Level Monitoring Kit

I had two readings through overnight - starting to have enough that the graph looks quite reasonable and you can see usage levels being sensible now.

The push notifications generally work for me, it's getting the readings into the system which has been their problem.

Another what, notification? You should only be getting these, if working correctly, every 24hrs when it records a reading...

Re: Watchman SENSiT Smart WiFi Tank Level Monitoring Kit

Same issue here - I purchased this in Nov 24, have had a replacement dongle and since then have managed to get ony 3 readings to date.

Managed to get them to do something at their end last week and for the first time my dongle went green and stayed green for over 2 days, but only 1 reading in that time on 8th March

I could also see that the dongle connected to my wifi as a wifi user , however since then its gone back to red again and the connection on my wifi has disappeared

Have tried to reset but cant seem to connect again and it stays red now even though app says connection success., App does hang at that point though and i need to kill the app and restart.

Absolute waste of money and unreliable - going to try calling one last time to get resolved , if not will chargeback for a refund and then look for alternatives - anyone have any suggestions ?

Re: Watchman SENSiT Smart WiFi Tank Level Monitoring Kit

I have had an appollo smart oil monitor for a number of years, it works fairly well. It's just a home display, no app, but gives you various readings, oil level, consumption, cost (input how much you paid per l) day to run out, CO2 produced. You just need to input your tank size and replace your sensit sensor, the appollo sensor will fit in the same hole but is taller and slimmer than the sensit one.

Hi Everyone

Thanks for posting in the Sky Community.

Can I ask, are you having problems with Sky Broadband, or are you collectively having trouble with the device across many different broadband routers/providers? 😀

Thanks

Re: Watchman SENSiT Smart WiFi Tank Level Monitoring Kit

Hi Kev,

I think we have participants from a number of different providers and routers here. This feels like a generic device problem rather than a Sky problem -- but us poor users have gravitated here because Sky community's google rankings are so good 🙂
