Recently got fibre but finding the call quality on google meets/teams to be quite bad. Calls are always lagging and i'll disconnect for a few seconds before reconnecting and missing portions of the call. Speed looks pretty decent any time I do a speed test however.
I'm using a sky broadband hub router over Wifi, with the router located about a metre away (in the same
room). Any ideas?

Find out more@ChatPile given you need under 15Mb//s up and down for Teams it seems unlikely your issue is related to your broadband connection going by your speed tests. Could it be an issue with the device you are using or if you sre usung a VPN an issue with that?

I'm using a Mac ussually for work but I've had similar issues on other devices (for example whatsapp video calls on my phone whilst connected to the wifi).
No VPNs connected at the minute 😔

If you have several other uses in your home also using the connection at the sametime it could be your hub struggling with too many calls at once.

Yeah its definitely strange - maybe its interference, there seems to be about 4-5 Sky wifi broadband routers in the area that I can see that seem to gravitate to the same channels. I might try grab an ethernet cable tommorow and see if that helps

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@ChatPile it could be interference and ethernet would prove or disprove that. However given the trivial bandwidth video calls use it is very odd. Sky hubs use the same range of WiFi channels are every other router however there are other sources of interference like other wireless kit so move any wireless sources like DECT cordless phones, wireless speakers etc away from near the hub or your Mac.

I'm having the same issue. Plenty of bandwidth but struggle with Teams videocalls. Same issue if I switch to my phone. We had EE before Sky with no issues.

I am also experience these same issues.
I have been with Virgin for many years and moved to Sky a few months ago and only started experiecing problems at that point. Although it reports I have high speeds when I test that, it drops off Teams call constantly where I loose video and voice for 3-4 seconds at a time. Its super frustrating and I've had a number of colleagues complain to me about it as it makes having 1:1 conversations very difficult.
This will cause me to switch back to Virgin if I can sort it 😞
