VPN set up on Broadband hub

@Nerd123 changing router or adding a VPN will not improve connection speeds. A better router will help with Wifi speeds in your home.

VPNs are not a protection against malware you require a good internet security suite for that. As I posted the main use case for a VPN is where you are using public wifi or where you want to look like you are in a different country to avoid geo-fencing but that is increasingly less effective as streaming services can detect VPNs. 

If you want to remove your Sky hub then you will need to source a VDSL modem most forum members buy a cheap TP-Link modem router and configure thst in modem mode. However a double NAT set up  as you have now is simpker and cheaper to set up and works for most apps.

As @Chrisee indicates, a Sky Hub (and typically any ISP router) cannot host a VPN service, and using an internet connection through a VPN provides absolutely no protection from malware (which is almost always self-inflicted) or phishing (that is by definition targeted)
