Re: Using third party router with Sky FTTP

@Kaaaarrrll  Hi. I have the same router as you and also FTTP with the ONT box. However I cannot get connected using the setting you made on the C80. Did you change any other setting apart from Router mode, WAN connection NORMAL and GET IPv6 Address STATIC?

Those settings are wrong

Connection is dynamic

Dhcpv6 needs enabled on the wan

Prefix delegation needs ticked on the wan

And stateless or slaac needs enabled on the lan

These are settings we don't know are available on the router. Another post recently suggests someone has submitted a ticket to tp link

Re: Using third party router with Sky FTTP

@cookiemonsteruk Thanks for the quick response and link. I'll keep an eye on that thread and see if there is an updated firmware from TP to allow enabling those settings. Cheers.

I'll be keeping an eye on it as well . Unfortunately this post appears to have been responsible for a few people buying the c80

Re: Using third party router with Sky FTTP

Did you leave it connected for a while with the settings changed? As it can take half an hour to an hour for the light to turn green and for it to be authenticated. Just be prepared if you find yourself with a few issues with smart speakers, apps etc though. Currently using the C80 myself and in contact with tp-link to fix the problems. It is a good reliable router though.

Re: Using third party router with Sky FTTP

@ThePiedPiper  Thanks for the response. Yes I was using the router with my old provider and I like it, much better wifi signal around my house with the TP Link router than with the sky router. However I think i'm going to stick using the sky router until TP release an update that allows proper setup with Sky FTTP and ONT. I have quite a few devices including IoT devices so would rather put up with less than optimal wifi over things not working properly! Hope you get a response from them soon.

Re: Using third party router with Sky FTTP

Hi Karl

That's great news! I've got a ASUS RT AC86U which I would like to know if it is possible to do the same. I also bought a TP LINK AC2100, which I think only works with phone line connection, not via Ethernet port, as in FTTP. I may be wrong. Am I better sticking to the TP Link or should it work with the ASUS? Any help would be apprecaited.

Cheers

Jason

Re: Using third party router with Sky FTTP

Hi Karl

Are these screen shots the only thing that you changed on the default router settings? Also I presume that you used Port 4 for the Ethernet from the fibre box?

Re: Using third party router with Sky FTTP

@Kaaaarrrll that is great news about your third party router!

Can you provide me with all the changed options when going from the router default?

I've been trying for some time now. Also, is your ethernet from the fibre converter going into any particular port on the router? Sky have port 4 configured.

Any help would be much apprecaited.

Cheers

Jason

Re: Using third party router with Sky FTTP

Will at TP LINK AX6000 Router be compatible with Sky Ultrafast plus 500mbps FTTP without having to flash the firmware?

Has anyone been able to confirm if Nest Wifi works on Sky FTTP?

Re: Using third party router with Sky FTTP

It didn't work for me. Sent it back after a few hours of failed attempts.

Re: Using third party router with Sky FTTP

Hi Karl. I'm looking to get one of these, I think. I'm frustrated at the sky q router as unless I'm literally next to it the speeds are awful.

Directly next to the router I get 140mbps. Within 3 metres it drops to 70!!!!!

Does this one improve on this?

im on the 142mbps package (ultra fast I think it's called)

Re: Using third party router with Sky FTTP

Do you need to ferret out your sky user name and password when you change the router? Or will plugging a compliant router into the ONT already have that? I tried finding my details with wireshark to no avail and the sky hub just can't seem to go beyond 500mb even though I'm on a gigabit contract. The router I want to use is the ubiquiti alien.
