Using my own router

I'm currently using BT 900 broadband and would like to switch to sky if I can use my UniFi router.

So I found this thread and am trying to find out. Because it is written there that it is necessary to change pppoe to DHCPv4. and in further discussion that it is necessary to modify system files

That would appear to be correct, yes.  Using non-Sky routers with Sky Broadband isn't entirely straightforward, and Ubiquiti as usual complicates things further.
