Re: Upload speed
Outbound speed for domestic broadband on all Openreach/BT Wholesale circuits is always hugely less than inbound: this is an essentially artificial limit to maintain the market for much more expensive business-grade 'leased-lines'.
The maximum upload spreed on FTTC is 20Mbs, reduced by line length to the fibre cabinet. On FTTP a 'gigabit' (actually 900Mbs) service should have outbound of 100Mbs.
If you are lucky enough to be in an area served by an altnet full-fibre provider, they are likely to have an almost symmetrical offering. Virgin Media also has somewhat faster upload relative to download on its private coaxial cable network.
BT Halo 3+ Ultrafast FTTP (500Mbs), BT Smart Hub 2
