I have just to today upgraded my Sky Broadband package £26-£30 per month to the Superfast package £39 per month. However the current Router I am using is still the old 02 ADSL Router which I have had for 9 years or so. Of course Sky took over 02 Broadband years ago so I have been a Sky Customer but with a now outdated and security weak 02 Router. As I have upgraded to a Superfast package does this include being delivered a new Sky Hub Router as part of the deal or will I have to purchase a Sky Hub Router independently at extra cost? I see Sky Hub Routers on Amazon for around £90. If I have to buy a Sky Hub Router independently which is the best recommended and will I need to install it before my Superfast package is activated?
It's a bit confused
Any advice would be gratefully received.
Cheers Beekay

Thanks for the advice Chrisee. Not overly confident I'm going to be receiving a new Sky Hub to replace the old Router. I should have chased this up years ago. I don't have a landline. When I did phone Up Sky today the chap I spoke to seemed a bit vague about getting the new Sky Hub.

Sky should send you one FOC. You should have had a replacement years ago as that router is way out of date even for old ADSL connections. It wouldnt have been getting security fixes or modern encryption methods of WiFi so poses a security risk for your network.
If Sky dont send you a hub automatically I would phone and question it.

Find out more@beekay44 you should get either a er115 Sky Q hub or a SR203 Sky Broadband hub which you get depends if Sky are switching the voice line to be via the hub as opposed to the old phone sockets. The SR203 is the better of the two but you dont get a choice.
That is assuming Sky have remembered you currently have an antique of course.😀

Thanks for the advice Jamesn. I suspect that I'll be chasing up a new Sky Hub. I wish I had asked for a replacement years ago.

With the shut down of the old pstn phone system in december 2025 and apparently openreach starting a stop sell of pstn lines for new customers in a month in preperation for the shutdown i would think sky would be eager to give you a sogea line where the phone plugs into the router. The only sky hub that can do that is the sr203 broadband hub

@cookiemonsteruk Thanks for the information. I'm not very tech savvy hopefully I'll be sent the appropriate Sky Hub?

You can reasonably insist on a Q Hub, and hope for a Sky Broadband Hub.
As @jamesn123 noted above, no-one should be still be using hardware of O2/BE vintage: that's potentially risky for the subscriber, the ISP and the wider internet.
