Trying to use VR2800 TP-Link

Wanted to replace SR203 with a VR2800, Despite setting it up correctly it cannot connect to the internet/broadband.

Tried going through the thread at https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Broadband/Replacing-sky-sr203-router-with-TP-Link-AC2800-modem-router/m...

Tested different wires, they are all working, plugged the ONS into the WAN port.

used username abcdefgh@skydsl and password 1234567890acbdef at the sky_mer(VDSL).

Was just wondering is there any other setting I need to do? I tried putting it in "wireless router mode" and factory reseting it multiple times but it just does not work.

I suspect the fundamental problem is that FTTP is not a form of VDSL

The thread you are referring to is the setup for FTTC

Thanks for the reply! Trying to find some threads about connecting TP-Link routers to sky FTTP, cant seem to find any but its likely im just blind, have you seen any similar threads or got any advice on setting it up for FTTP rather than FTTC?

@gooboo there is roughly an 80% chance thst you can authenticate your TP-Link unit to a Sky connection over Openreach FTTP by using HDCPv6 PD which AFAIK TP-Link supports which does not require a log in string. If your connection is in the 20% that can't use that method you would need to use DHCPv4 Option61 which TP-Link does not as far as I know support on the router's WAN interface (the support on their modem routers is only live for VDSL connections).

Sky have no control over which connection you can use its down to who made the kit handling the connection at the exchange. All of Sky's City Fibre lines usupport DHCPv6 PD
