Terrible WiFi

Although apparently we have fast WiFi, I am unable to game properly without it glitching. If I am on a work call and my partner is watching tv downstairs, the call glitches and cuts out. We pay a lot of money and I am not seeing the connections speeds we apparently are getting. I know friends that pay less for other services and have a much better and more stable connection

@Nicola139 the speed a partial fibre line, assuming that is how you are connected, can deliver is set by the length of your copper phone line to the cabinet which isnt something Sky can sort until your area gets full fibre installed. The cost of providing a connection over a long line is the same as a short line which is faster and actually supplying ssrvices to people who are lucky enough to have a full fibre connection costs Sky less even though spedds can be 10 times faster.

You can check thst the broadband is performing corrdctly by running the service checker in the My Sky app if you click on the broadband link it will tell you the guaranteed speed for your line and show the history for the last few weeks. If speeds are below the guarantee the app should offer more help if it doesnt call Sky.

If you do have a long line and a slow connection you will get issues if several applications are competing for bandwidth. There are things you can do for example if your partner is watching the latest Netflix series in UHD they will be using far more bandwidth than if they watched in HD freeing up bandwidth for your work call. Similarly downloading a new game is easy on a fast fbre connection but can tie upma slower line for many hours.
