Hi
I am looking at buying a TPLink Archer AX53 (AX3000). Could I plug this direct into the ONT? Had far too many issues with the Sky Max Hub and support can't seem to help.
thanks

Unfortunately, TP-Link routers usually do not support DHCP Option 61 and therefore usually cannot be connected directly to the ONT. Sometimes TP-Link routers can be used with DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation (PD) to authenticate with Sky but this isn't guaranteed. The best routers to use with Sky and the most popular are Asus routers which perform very well.

Having done this my self yesterday 19th December, so far I've had No issues, when I say it's easy, thats an understatement...... removed my Sky router and plugged in my NEW Archer AX53 (AX3000) straight into the the ONT. By the time I connected up my laptop via Ethernet the router had already "authenticated" and I had internet access.......
I still went through the wizard and configured for "Auto-detected", very quick and simple.... All I did extra to get going straight away was duplicate over the SSID's from my SKY router and internal LAN subnet, took all of 5minutes if that.
I updated the firmware as well up to the latest half expecting to then loose all internet.... but was wrong.
I had issues with my Sky router and more than twice weekly the router would seem to restart...... was informed by support it was most likely to the 40 devices I have either HW or Wifi on my home network..... (Smart TV's, smart Sockets, personal devices etc)

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Andrew+Robinosn you were lucky that your exchange supports the alternate authentication system of DHCPv6 PD which around 80% of connections can use butv20% can't its apparently down to who made the unit atvthecexchange. There is no certainty other people will becas fortunate.
