Switching to Sky from Vodafone

I made the switch to Sky in February 2025 and Sky Broadband went live on March 14 but Vodafone still keeps billing me. I contacted Sky first today via Whatsapp and was told that Sky handled the switch correctly I have then contacted Vodafone and they claim my services with them were not terminated. How do I get Sky to sort this mess out and settle with Vodafone?

@KS9117  Did you get anything from Vodafone saying that they are sorry to see you leaving or to send you a final bill for the services up to the date you joined Sky?

Has Vodafone asked you at all to send their tech back to them?

If someone has helped give them Like.

If you have found this solution helpful please tick this as the answer.

@KS9117 Mistakes happen and if you are fully up and running on the sky broadband, then call vodafone direct and cancel your service with them, at least get that part stopped then deal with the rest...

@KS9117 the one touch switching system makes it Sky's responsibility to manage the cancellation but even if they have done that Vodafone could have missed applying the switch correctly. However complain to Sky as you should not be out of pocket see How to make a Sky complaint | Sky Help | Sky.com

Re: Switching to Sky from Vodafone

I didn't pay any attention to any correspondence from Vodafone just paid whatever bills that came up to the last one, now thinking about I overpaid them quite a lot already.

It was supposed to be a hassle free switch so I didn't pay any attention whatsoever. As for the equipment it's at least 3 years old so simply assumed they didn't take old ones back just like Virgin when I switched to Vodafone prior.

@KS9117 while most switches go smoothly but some don't so it is sensible to read communications etc.

Re: Switching to Sky from Vodafone

I can cancel myself with Vodafone now (probably after an hour waiting to be connected to an agent) of course but they're going to come after me with the latest bill I didn't pay and the final one on top of that. I have overpaid them already and not willing to pay anything anymore.

@KS9117 then formally complain to Sky as they should have handled it as I advised earlier. Just not paying is frankly stupid as you will be chased for the debt which causes far more effort to get it put right later unless you enjoy being chased by debt collectors.

Re: Switching to Sky from Vodafone

Yeah I get that, but the part where someone else doesn't do their job correctly neither party admits the mistake and I am left paying is what drives me nuts

That's what I'll have to do. Thanks.

Re: Switching to Sky from Vodafone

@KS9117 You are getting everything about vodafone back to front, the final bill from vodafone should start to end on the Sky takeover activation date, so that is the important date, if vodafone where made aware off this BY sky then it is a vodafone issue, if not then it is a Sky issue, the current state off play is that BOTH think they have your Broadband service and vodafone will continue to charge the fee, and will be extremely reluctant to give you anything back. You either let sky deal with this or do it yourself, either way start it now and quickly.

Re: Switching to Sky from Vodafone

Rang them at 7:59 and managed to get through straight away which is amazing compared to well over an hour of waiting when I was cancelling Virgin

Cancelled as of today and they confirmed they have not received any cancellation request from Sky. I thought that was supposed to be automatic, but whatever, I'll make s complaint to Sky and see what happens. Any idea how they're dealing with such cases?

Re: Switching to Sky from Vodafone

@KS9117 That's the bluff and double bluff, they both can say anything, hard copy e-mails, looking on your My Messages section off the sky account, also at you vodafone if you have access to it still, and as before the end customer that is you have to keep the eye on it all and at all times, the OTS system is NOT 100% fallible and things go wrong for many reason's, as to who is going to take care off it now you are a sky customer so that is your starting point.

At least you have the vodafone shutting down now and out off the way, just make sure you get E-Mail conformation from them!

Re: Switching to Sky from Vodafone

The burden of proof is on Sky for now, I'll proceed with complaint and ask for evidence that cancellation request was made with Vodafone and move onto them if necessary or as the last resort file a complaint with ComReg.

I'll keep posting updates should anyone else find themselves in similar situation. Thank you for your time.
