Switching from BT

Hi, I've just signed up to Sky broadband and TV. I'll be moving from BT (broadband and entertainment package). How does Sky know I'm moving? I've not been asked at any point in the online sales process. 
I'm confused!

@JulesetFergus  If the switch works correctly bt will inform sky directly about broadband only but not tv services 

 

you need to ensure that you cancel the tv element yourself directly with bt

When you put your postcode/phone number into the Sky website it should have said that it sees an currently active service at the address
