Switching Virgin to Sky

I recently went to leave Sky, Virgin had issues and in the end I decided to remain with Sky. The problem I have is that both Sky and Virgin call centres are useless. Both claim it is the other that is delaying! I am left paying full price for Broadband whilst neither of them claim they can do anything and neither wants to help!! Clearly nowhere to email and I cannot face another 20min phone call that resolves nothing!! Both are just a pure shambles

Re: Switching Virgin to Sky

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

@CHRISD1980  So are you switching to Virgin Media?  If so it is they who carry out any installtion for their services, not Sky.

If there is a delay in getting setup with Virgin Media Sky have no control over them.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

Re: Switching Virgin to Sky

I gave notice to Sky that I was leaving - then due to issues with connections and work outside Virgin had no date and already 6 weeks waiting. I have advised Sky if my intention to stay - I also advised Virgin to cancel which they have done. Sky have in all this time provided me with Broadband but claim Virgin need to "feedback" however Virgin advised all is cancelled and nothing to be done.. I am left in the middle and no one from Sky or Virgin can help

Re: Switching Virgin to Sky

@CHRISD1980 How did this all get started, did you have VM takeover the line as a OTS, if so then get the leading/gaining provider has to deal with it all! See the link below!

@CHRISD1980

I have been with Virgin Media 5+ years.

May I ask reason you want to join Virgin Media and not another ISP that use Openreach network?

Re: Switching Virgin to Sky

VM took over - they then claim all cancelled as it was never completed. Sky still claim VM need to provide feedback - just both passing back/forth and no one actually appears to help. Just an excuse in my eyes - but one of them will need to pay for it

Re: Switching Virgin to Sky

Was getting a better deal but way VM have dealt with it I would not go with them even if they offered it for free

Re: Switching Virgin to Sky

@CHRISD1980 Sky are correct, VM tried to take the line, they need to inform sky it is cancelled and done with, it is nothing to do with you telling sky it has to come from VM!

Lost about one needs to pay for what?

Re: Switching Virgin to Sky

@CHRISD1980 Virgin Media like any ISP will offer good deals to new customer. Virgin Media customer service is no worse or better than Sky....both lame.

But Virgin Media routers  Hub 3 and Hub 4 are awefull unless you go for their Gig1 package that comes with later Hub 5.

If I was leaving Sky, would go to another Openreach ISP like Vodafone or Plusnet over Virgin Media...unless Virgin Media are offering you their latest FTTP that comes with Hub 5 as standard. Most of Virgin Media network is very old FTTC and Coaxial to property.
