Super slow broadband

Hi it's been just over two weeks and I was promised 50mbps speeds yet the only place in my house that gets this speed is the living room. When I spoke to the person on the phone when creating my package I was told this was the best package for my needs (streaming, gaming and working from home) it's gotten to the point where I have to use my mobile data to complete my work from home due to this shocking slow internet speed. I've used the app to check my speeds and it says 55mbps but then I use my own speed tester (which is far more reliable) and I'm only getting 7mbps.

Hi @Josh04 

I think there has been some confusion around what you actually purchased.

Sky will only guarantee your line speed over ethernet, if your getting 50mbps in the same room as the router over WiFi then thats good and there is no issue there. If you move to different rooms the speed is inevitability going to drop because thats just the physicals of WiFi signals. If your struggling for signal in other rooms I would recommend looking at Sky boosters or powerline adapters to wire devices to the router.

The speed is in the room right next to the WiFi router, it's ridiculous why should I be paying for WiFi that only works in a single room of the house.

Every ISP is the same. Unless you take out a specific addon guarantee the WiFi signal is what it is. E.G. Sky Broadband Boost or Sky Max. BT do the same with their broadband product called complete WiFi.

Its not magic, the signal is affected by walls, appliances, number of devices etc.
