In the last couple of days the wifi signal in my house has become very week. There is one wired connection which is working normally but for a decent wifi connection (with any of our phones or laptop) I have to sit next to the router (which is in the roof). I've had this router for a year & had good connection throughout, I haven't moved the router or changed anything that would affect the signal. I've tried resetting the router, deleting it on phones & reconnecting, but nothing is working . Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

One doesn't need to change anything for other factors to affect wireless like nearby wireless routers added recently in the area to interfere with your wireless system. You can try alternative channels on the 2.4Ghz wireless band but most of the Sky routers only support channel 36 at 80Mhz on 5Ghz.
If wireless is a must investing in a quality commercial wireless router would be the way forward, an Asus wireless router performs well with Sky and has the required DHCP Option 61 and DHCPv6 PD authentication method used by Sky.

There is a new neighbour next door so it is possible. If so, what can I or he do to overcome the conflict? All the other routers that come up on a search are BT. Don't see why anyone should have to supply their own equipment when paying Sky to provide it.

All ISPs supply the cheapest hardware they can get away with (or charge a premium subscription for a better model). It's unrealistic to expect the same performance from c£50 of ISP router as with £200 of third-party kit.

Thanks for that, but I think you're not reading my post. It was working great for a year, then became weak, so, whilst I'm sure you are right, the shoddy router supplied by Sky was clearly up to the job until a couple of days ago.

As explained already, Sky's router only supports channel 36 on 5 GHz. Commercially available wireless routers support more 5Ghz channels and if you want to keep using wireless at the same performance then you will need to use an alternative 5Ghz channel to avoid the neighbour's interference and Sky's freely supplied routers don't support other 5Ghz channels.

As mentioned by other users there can be many reasons why this has happened from neighbouring WiFi routers/appliances to any local devices you've added/changed/updated in your home.

Okay, it's driving me mad so if a replacement router is the answer, that's what I'll do. Can someone advise what model of Asus router I should get to overcome this please?
