Slow internet

My internet kept droppin off over the last couple of days, several times a day often around 10.00pm several times in succesion. Decided to power down the router and re-start it now Sky say I have 131mbs to the hub but the best I can get via wifi even inches away from the router is 59mbs and my laptop is so slow I can't stream any video. The set up hasn't changed it was ok before apart from the internet dropping. What to do, the wifi on this router is the absolute worst I have ever seen.
