Re: Slow ethernet connection
Anniyingly, I seem to be having the same problem. Wifi is all fine and dandy, but my computer which is connected directly via ethernet seems to be a lot slower. I tried switching to port 4 as suggested in this thread, which sped things up for a few days but is now noticeably slower again. Very frustrating and quite bizarre. Are sky throttling our connections, perhaps?

Re: Slow ethernet connection
@egparrot1 Will have a look through the post again, although the hub is marked 1 to 4, 4 is used for the ONT Fibre wan connection, it also has the word WAN written in RED above the port. No ONT then they are all Lan ports!
If not connecting on FF then all ports should in theory be equal in speed!

Re: Slow ethernet connection
My hub is an SR203 and there is nothing to distinguish the difference ports on the rear, it may just have been a coincidence or something that changed the speed. I am not on full fibre, I have fibre to the cabinet only.

Re: Slow ethernet connection
Oh hang on a minute, I just realized today's speed problem may be down to a background cloud backup that I didn't realise was running. I'll see how it is when this is concluded. It was definitely very slow last week and I don't think there was any background traffic.

Re: Slow ethernet connection
@egparrot1 On fttc then you have the 4 lan ports to play with on the SR203 hub. But as before they are all Gb/s ports, how many ports are you using, and what do you have plugged into them!
On an fttc speed even at max 80/20 speed, Ethernet should trump on your speed test and get you up near what you achieve as a normal speed on your profile.
Speeds are up and down so say you have a 70/16 it may return a 62/14 as example, completely acceptable. Post up your stat's will take a look at them just give it a minute or so for the data in the hub to fill up the fields!
(1) How to read your Sky Hub statistics
Also 2nd Tuesday off the month is the old windows forced download keep me up to date slow the system down and very Microsoft un thoughtful unless you turn the sucker off!!!!

Re: Slow ethernet connection
Hi,
Thanks for your help, stats copied below. It all looks good currently, I think?
Basically when I first observed a problem, it was the fact that my web browser, mainly Edge, was taking an age to load the page (10 secs or more). That observed behaviour is currently not happening, with yesterday being exceptional due to cloud backup running.
I will keep monitoring and report back if I have more troubles!

Re: Slow ethernet connection
Thanks for that, only just picked up your reply. Edge was being slow again this morning getting results from DuckDuckGo. I was in a meeting at the time so couldn't check if there was a background process. I've just been to review Router Stats again (below). Ran another search on DDG and it seems to be back up to speed (comparable to my iPad). I guess maybe it was a background process that I didn't catch.
