Hi, ive recently switched over from BT where i didnt have any issues with coverage but since the swap i have had trouble getting and keeping WIFI signal in different parts of the house even though router is in the exact same position? Is this a common issue? And are there any known fixes/tweaks to improve it?
TIA,
James

Generally the BT hub has better coverage than the Sky hub so its not an uncommon issue. Solutions would be to obtain boosters from Sky or use a 3rd party router/booster. If you want boosters from Sky you must have the Broadband Boost or Max addon.

Does sky recommend using any specific 3rd party routers to fix this issue?

Sky just states it won't provide support for non-Sky routers.
You'll find extensive discussion of such hardware in their forum.

I am disappointed. I had "Three" wifi router and the coverage was great throughout the house but decided to change it because only 4G was available in my area. I switched to Sky and the signal starts becoming weaker just 2 meters from the router and not available in many parts of the house itself. I put the router in an elevated position as suggested by the sky helpdesk as well. I can understand signal getting weak after a 6-7 metres but this is bad. I am guessing it's their strategy to get people to subscribe to their boosters. Very disappointed @Sky @Sky.Sky

Agree - I just switched from BT to Sky Max and the coverage is terrible. You get close to 500mbps standing next to the box and as soon as devices such as phone and laptop are in another room it drops to 80mbps - this is despite going through all the trouble shooting with Sky customer service - their soluton - pay for a booster subscription - how convienient!! Out of our cooling period because we read you need to allow it to settle - what rubbish. Only 3 weeks in, will try and get it cancelled and go back to BT.. wish me luck!

Changed from BT with FC booster. Sky broadband poor wifi coverage and Sky want to charge me for a booster. Would not recomend Sky and will return to BT

I bought a tp link wifi extender from Amazon instead of going for the sky booster for which you have to pay a monthly fee. Anyway that resolved the coverage issue.
