I was replying to @FLC to indicate that your mention of Openreach shows you are in the UK.

Because of your reference to "my area" & Sky being a VOIP provider there, as though it was something out of the ordinary. But as you're not, everything stated in the thread is correct, regardless of what you were told on the phone.
You can of course cancel if you're unhappy but no one on the Openreach network offers free calls.

Interpreted ...you can't interpret something we were told in person!
Found another thread on here asking same question...
Saying he's connecting phone to an RJ45 data connections NOT the phone connections. With picture identifying where the phone plugged in ..are the calls then free?
THIS WAS THE ANSWER...right here on this forum !
QUOTE
That's right.. Calls are only billed by Sky if you use Sky Talk, via the Hub's phone socket.
END QUOTE.
See what I mean? contradicting answers every time...even here !
Does nobody actually know the reality.?

Plugging a phone into an ethernet socket means they are using an IP handset configured for a 'real' VoIP provider with a separate subscription, not Sky Talk Internet Calls. Calls through that provider (Vonage, Gamma, 3CX or whoever) might well be 'free' because that's what the subscription covers.

And where is a "separate" voip provider mentioned? Nowhere.
And how does that explain Sky own text
" internet calls are free" ...not "internet calls SERVICE is free, but you pay for the calls "
If you can find that then post it !

Call centre personnel have been known to get things wrong, and many previous forum posters have been similarly confused.
The fundamental position is that Sky Talk Pay As You Talk running over either Sky Talk Internet Calls or an old fashioned PSTN circuit has a (high) per-minute cost to make calls, as the name suggests, if subscription to a Sky Talk Extra hasn't been added.

It doesn't have to be mentioned: that's the only way a handset plugged into a network connection can work.

'Sky Talk Internet Calls' is the product name.
The product is provided 'free' as part of the broadband subscription.
Making calls using it has a cost, though receiving calls does not.
If you'd like to suggest this is incredibly confusing, than I'd agree, but getting annoyed with other forum users rather than Sky isn't particularly productive.

Yes ...there is a paying side but on that part of sky talk weekends and evenings free.
But it also states where sky are able to offer full fibre, internet calls are free and there is no charge for this with or without a talk package? you pay the same price!
Where does it say that?

Re: Sky max hub phone connections. Is separate ATA required to use DECT phone for free intrnet calls
Typically it's a misinterpretation of
There’s no extra charge for Internet Calls, our Broadband & Talk packages cost the same whether you have Internet Calls or not.
As you know, I've repeatedly suggested Sky considers rewording that statement.
