Re: Sky max hub just ordered
@will28 As you will have the dual OR Master socket and it may even say G.Fast on it as you had that service before, and for sure the Sky Max is not a G.Fast hub, but it will connect to that left hand RJ11 sockect and direct to the back of the Sky Max hub, and WILL assume like the SR203 it is a purple socket connection, but very left hand and it is the first socket on the viewed from the rear off the hub.
The phone if and when the hub get's on the network will plug into the back off the hub, the PHONE connection on the OR Master socket is DEAD and will not be used for anything.
Would test the G.Fast by putting the EE Router back on and be sure that EE have dropped the connection, there is a lot to go wrong with the install if OR did not move you from a G.Fast connection back to a VDSL2 in the green cabinet, and real surprised if they did not even come and test that your line was active on there side.
Sky do have up until midnight to switch it all over, but normally when you get the text it has been done, BUT they have been known to jump the gun as soon as OR say we done our side, sky still have to do there side, and the EE router should have stayed up working and connected to sky!

Re: Sky max hub just ordered
So just plugged my EE router back in to test.
At first no lights came on,did a factory reset it's just giving me a flashing light and says have i been activated yet? when I connect to the router.
So what should do wait long with the sky router plugged in?

Re: Sky max hub just ordered
@will28 The whole object off the OTS is to keep EE working until sky Say ok, weve got the customer now. Plug the sky hub back in, and here is the electronic version for setting up the new hub! Just use YES i have internet calls but ignore anything about the phone line unless you do intend to have one connected! See the link below!.

Re: Sky max hub just ordered
I've started the setup process in the sky app..it's currently doing were setting up your sky max hub with an orange circle going round and round and it this may take... But the next part is hidden/cut off for some
reason.
Anyway the router has a slow flashing amber light on it at the moment.
So has the process frozen do I abort or is it just taking a long time (it's been approx 10 minutes so far I think)

Re: Sky max hub just ordered
I would just wait a bit longer, does your EE connection still work because if it does then the changeover hasn't taken place just yet.

Re: Sky max hub just ordered
I tried plugging my EE router back in it won't connect or just says my line isn't activated yet so I think it's safe to say I left EE?
Sky said my line was actives at approx 1.30pm but I only plugged in the power lead in to the sky router no sooner than 5pm when I got home.
Really hope it's not a fault on my end as the line was good up till yesterday after when I perhaps jumpped the gun a bit (but all my sockets are behind a heavy unit so had to be done when I could get help) unplugged the EE router and got the sky ready to just plug in the power today

Update - just had a text from EE to say as requested they've stopped my broadband service

Re: Sky max hub just ordered
@will28 You have used sky's cable with the purple ends one to the OR socket and the other to the Sky Max hub? Theory sky's and EE's cable for the phone line connection should be the same, but had one cable before that a sky hub did not like, but it was a sky to sky hub change, eventually just changed the cable and it sprung into life but that was at least 6 years ago now or even longer!

@caesarome User was on a G.Fast connection with EE and dropping back to a sky Max 80/20 split as SKY did say he was not getting G.Fast with them!

Re: Sky max hub just ordered
So tried the sky purple end cable in the broadband side of the dual phone socket, I've just tried the EE cable and a random grey cable I found all identical to the eye.
Same result amber light than a red light.
I'm at a lost what to do...

Re: Sky max hub just ordered
Hopefully it is just waiting till midnight, maybe sky were just quick to tell me it's activated?
Or could the router be fault? Hopefully it'll just keep trying to right it's self till it connects and stays that way.

Re: Sky max hub just ordered
@will28 If sky where keeping you on G.Fast like EE i would have been a lot happier, dropping back on VDSL2 80/20 split and sky Max it's going to be the wait and see!, if not tonight, then call sky CS 8am tomorrow morning for a failed activation and quickly get the ball rolling on it! Check the link below for the max hub and run over a mobile data connection!

Re: Sky max hub just ordered
Yes It is not difficult at all to separate the 2.4Ghz and 5GHz bands in the Sky Max hub.
Once you are in the router setup, you will be able to see the two frequencies. There is an option to change the name and password of either.
I suggest that you keep the 5GHz network as it is, to be the nrew network and you can connect all your non IOT device to this network.
Then if you change the 2.4 GHZ name to your existing wifi name and password (old EE router), then your IoT devices will automatically connect as the name and password are as before.
Hope this helps!
