Re: Sky max hub just ordered

@will28 I use the Tp-Link P110 smart plugs dotted about and did not have any issues changing sky to ee and back to sky, so been through 4 different hubs now, even on the EE Smarthub+ with the single ssid they where fine and they are all 2.4Ghz also wpa2-psk devices and connected that way!

Re: Sky max hub just ordered

Changing the sky router to use my EE settings while I'll have to remember which details to use if adding any brand new devices, in theory it's better than changing all devices to the new network  settings as hopefully only have to experiment with the wpa setting i.e will everything work on wpa3-t or will I have to settle for wpa2.

Having said as I've mentioned the plugs are the only issue but it's more the hassle of sorting them, switching off 5ghz temporarily etc.

Re: Sky max hub just ordered

@will28 That's the 6 million dollar question, standards are just what each manufacturer does and there is just no 100% guarantee, start off with the WPA3-T and see how it all goes, the T is for transition for them to play nice with each other that is if they can!!!!

WPA is both Hardware and Software, so older devices just do not have the Hardware to start with fitted to them!

Re: Sky max hub just ordered

Hi

Since I've cancelled EE for sky Tuesday evening I've had 4 to 6 calls from EE I keep missing them. Anyway why ? Can I just ignore them too. They send me a final bill etc. via e-mail or post so it's not something important? They don't leave a voice mail.

@will28

I'd imagine that's the 'win-back team' (or something similar) trying to convince you to cancel the switch.

Re: Sky max hub just ordered

@will28 That's the calls from the EE Retentions team desperate to get a hold off you to reverse your decission and stay with EE, do what ever they can to keep you, while they can and make it easier in the cancellation process, better to if you can speak to them and if you have made the mind to go to sky best tell them so.

Billing is all pipeline stuff you may find that you have to pay one extra depending on the crossover, but you will get it all back as a refund paid direct back to the bank DD if that is how you are doing it all.

My sky was rapid, Sky Mar 5th signed up Mar10th online and gone, no messing about obvious OR where on the ball, sky rushed the hub out the door and was all squeezed in rapido method. Live 3am in the morning stuff that well asleep eventually put the sky hub on mid day and up working in 10 mins.

Re: Sky max hub just ordered

Oh yes got a direct debit with them, I only own them 39 pence as I had a day left in my contract at most.

I'm not sure how billing workings as I'm not with them for a full month now obviously?

Do I have to answer these calls from them?

I mean when contract was ending they gave me a renewal price of £44 till march 26 going up to 47. Soon as I'd completed the order with sky they sent me a revised offer of £29.99 till march 26 going up to 32 then 37 a year later. So I'm still saving money.

Re: Sky max hub just ordered

@will28 The decission is all your's we have no influence in anyway or advise to what to do, sky will be disappointed but bet that has happened many times before, i took the opposite kind off the way i am, don't care much about the price anyway EE where glad to get rid, they would not fix the Router and new what they did was all wrong, and another year off the faffing about with FW fixes, fix one break 2, nothing works as expected, app is just bad that's all you can say about it, how to turn a good working Router into a pile of dog droppings in one flawed FW update EE know how to do it!

Re: Sky max hub just ordered

When EE waited till I put the order in with sky and would be a hassle to cancel to make me a better offer.

But shame it was only for 8 months then the price would go up. But still saving money with sky had EE said £29.99 for 2 years I might of consider it.

Anyway so I can igrone the EE calls if I'm sure I'm leaving i mean they can't stop me leaving or anything?

  • If they bill me by DD.

Re: Sky max hub just ordered

Hi

Got my sky max hub now but not sure if the usb c lead of its power adapter is long enough for where I have to put the router.

What are my options other than using a closer power socket. Thank you

Re: Sky max hub just ordered

@will28 Then a GOOD quality mains power extension is what you will need to get it all where you want it!

Re: Sky max hub just ordered

Thankyou so managed to get it plugged in.

Got a message today from sky to say my broadband is activated today (5 august) at approx 1.30pm.

However when I put the power lead in at (5pm after work) and phone lead in I just get static amber light followed by a red light. The phone cable is in the same socket I used with EE (144.mbps g.fast) which I know was working up till I unplugged the EE router yesterday morning.

I tried a different phone cable in the same socket and another one in the phone side of the socket.

I also got an email which starts "

We're sorry you've requested to cancel your EE broadband service.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
We'll stop your EE service on 5 August 2025 . If we have your mobile number, we'll text you when that's been done Once your broadband is cancelled, your final bill will be produced. .."

Not had another message yet to say that yet. Either by text or email.

Lastly I've gone though the diagnosis online with sky and just comes back need an engineer out which I don't understand if it was working before with EE.

Advice please is this normal do I just need to wait longer and it'll start working?

Thank you
