Sky is throttling my connection to certain sites.
Sky is throttling my connection to fast.com and I can prove it.
When using speedtest.net I get what I would expect I pay for 300Mb and get around 280, this is a wired ethernet connection.
When I speedtest through fast.com I get 30Mb.
When I turn on my VPN and speedtest again through fast.com I get compatible speeds to speedtest.net.
This is irrefutable proof that sky has the ability to and does throttle connections to certain domains and services.
How is this acceptable.

Re: Sky is throttling my connection to certain sites.
@MrBenjamin It may be just a simple routing issue and not a throttling issue(what would be the point in Sky throttling speeds to a single speed test site?).
From my experience fast has been very inconsistent recently, i don't use Sky broadband and whne using fast I get speeds that vary from 10mbps to 500mbps, even on the low days I have no issue streaming netflix(which fast is part of), simply because it's a false result as speed test.net and speed.measurementlab.net both report 450+mbps at the same time.

Have to say I'm struggling to understand why any ISP would choose to throttle speed testing site and so generate more support calls....

Re: Sky is throttling my connection to certain sites.
Hi, yeah, I just noticed myself. I upload to file hosters a lot and if I use my VPN, I uplaod a 1 gigabyte file at around 2.26 MB/s but if I don't have VPN on then it uploads at around 200 KB/s or eight times slower.
Needless to say, as soon as contract up, back to previous broadband provider.

Same here. I don't pay for a broadband connection that gets throttled when I use a system that requires VPN

Re: Sky is throttling my connection to certain sites.
Looked into this further and still not resolved.
I no longer think its deliberate, I think I have terrible routing congestion and packet loss issues that are circumvented by my VPN usage.
However when i tried to speak to customer services they just kept parroting about speed to my hub.
Despite me being connected directly to the hub via 3ft of Cat 6.

Hi daveNOS, still having these issues, used the testers you sugged and getting the same results.
I do agree its not throttling and its likely a routing issue, but its affecting all incoming traffic.
faster on VPN's, screenshot below.

They 100% do. A simple Speedtest with and without vpn proves it.
i only have sky broadband because I've got sky q but I will not be renewing my broadband with them. Why should I pay for a throttled connection
