Sky internet is terrible

I've never used a worse broadband than sky, it must be the slowest broadband provider in the UK

Re: Sky internet is terrible

It’s as if I'm posting this on dial up internet connection, so bad I have disconnected and used my data, I have agreed a pre contract with Fibrus, finally leaving this fraud broadband provider for good.

You may be fundamentally misunderstanding the nature of the UK national broadband infrastructure and the role of ISPs using it.

Having said that, an altnet such as Fibrus can almost certainly offer better terms than any Openreach ISP, for as long as their venture capital funding holds out.

Same here in North Staffordshire - Sky just cannot supply what we are paying for.

Sky supposedly guarantee us 55.3 mbps - we are getting 29/30 mbps

@Tim+Madew  I suspect if you look at the terms of the 'guarantee' it gives you the option to leave without penalty if the speed to your hub cannot be met.

Sky, like most ISPs, has little or no control over the speed to the hub, this is purely down to the infrastructure, which is managed by Openreach.

No Openreach ISP can overcome issues caused by degenerating Openreach copper circuits: that's why they offer an option to exit a minimum contract term without penalty.  Realistically Openreach isn't putting anything like the same resources into a system it intends to scrap.

Re: Sky internet is terrible

Sounds like you still on old FTTC.  On my street Openreach only upgraded that to FTTP  about 6 months ago.

I got about 35Mbs connection on the old FTTC with both Sky and Talktalk due to distance from the exchange.

I was quite lucky there was Virgin Media as alternative.
