Sky broadband giga fast but Wi-Fi speed loss

I wonder if you could assist . I have heard various posts where people have had the old Sky 4.2 router, On giga fast and I have just upgraded, and they say it tops out around 500 MB, although some people say 700. When I'm next to the router, I get around 550 MB, I appreciate its old Wi-Fi technology and I'm pushing to upgrade to the Wi-Fi max but keep getting told it's unavailable due to equipment shortages. I have two Sky Q mini boxes on the sky Q system. I wouldn't say it's because of that that I'm unable to upgrade because I've heard people on this forum that have that and have the max. I'm going to keep pushing for the max. In the meantime, is it worth chasing up Sky to get the current hub replaced? Would you say it's under performing on the Wi-Fi or is It performing exactly like it should?

@Postings there does appears to be a shortage of the WiFi Max hubs but I would query whether paying the premium is worth it if you still have Sky Q. Your two Q minis cannot connect directly to the new hub's wifi instead have to be connected to the main Q box and you lose the wifi hot spots the Q box provide. Hardwiring the Q boxes seems to cause speed issues according to other customers.

In practical terms increasing WiFi speeds is not going to make much if any difference in nirmal use. Very few apps can use much more than 100Mb/s and the increase in downloading speeds is not going to be guaranteed as many server owners limit the bandwidth each client can use.

Re: Sky broadband giga fast but Wi-Fi speed loss

Yes I did hear you lose the WiFi hotspots Q provide, but would it still be better in terms of WiFi signal and speed especially upstairs. I assume the WiFi max and the pod or pods will still perform better and the WiFi will penetrate better and be faster than where the hotspots are upstairs? So the loss of them would still not really matter??

Also is the Sky hub 4.2 maxing out its WiFi speed or is it worth asking again for a replacement??
