Sky broadband blocking access to Outlook email server

The Outlook application is disconnected when on Sky wifi but works perfectly when I tether to my mobile. I've been on to my IT team at work and they've identified it's a problem with Sky but can't say what.

Re: Sky broadband blocking access to Outlook email server

I have the same issue. Outlook (and other apps) works when I connect to my company's VPN. Think its a DNS issue with the ISP. Hearing similar might be happening with other UK ISP's too. Nothing from Sky on this yet....

Out of interest does your compnay use Zscaler for internet filtering? Try disabling it....

Re: Sky broadband blocking access to Outlook email server

I have no idea, will ask in the morning. Thanks!

I called Sky, their solution was to disable broadband shield, which seemed to work for an hour but then back to disconnected again.

Re: Sky broadband blocking access to Outlook email server

It looks as though the problem has been solved by my IT team, 2 days now of uninterrupted access.

the solution was to disable IPV6 connections on the laptop. Hope this helps anyone with the same issue.

Instead of disabling IPv6 entirely, please try disabling just ULA, under Advanced-> LAN IP Setup.

Re: Sky broadband blocking access to Outlook email server

Hi Guys,

I ran in to this issue today, I use a PC laptop for my contract work, my Mac works fine, my work laptop uses zscaler and they have asked me to reach out to you to find out if there is anything sky can do or I can do so zscaler works on my PC laptop, this has only just become an issue as it was working fine yesterday.

I look forward to your reply.

Re: Sky broadband blocking access to Outlook email server

Hey Stav1986,

Not sure they'll do that but I can ask them this, but if Sky have advice too I could inform IT on the ticket IO have raised and see if a solution can be found between both Sky and IT, it's not just affecting me

@PixelsPencil Sky techs rarely reply on the forum, the post by @-rpnz- above is a rare exception and given he is a lead on IP6 his advice is worth trying. Sky customer services will not normally advise on third party devices or apps as you will find is true of other ISPs selling domestic connections.

Re: Sky broadband blocking access to Outlook email server

Thanks Chrisee,

I have provided info to IT about what has been shared here,  currently have to juggle VPNs for my work laptop to work and connect so for now this is how I'll have to work I guess
