Sky Wi Fi Max Hub (White) not as good as previous
Hi
Is anyone else having issues after upgrading to the Sky Wi-Fi Max hub (white). We also have 3 booster pods.
For the last 4 years or so we have had the Black Sky hub along with Sky Q and multi room boxes. Few weeks ago we upgraded just the Hub as we already have Fibre 300.
And now we are having issues whereby the internet intermittently lets us down particularly at the furthest points from the hub (despite having apparently good signal) one of the issues I'm noticing is mymy partners work laptop will work fine with teams and outlook but nothing on the browser/chrome will work at all. This seems to be fixed by moving the laptop closer to hub.
I'm no expert but from what I can tell this is due to the new hub forcing 5ghz to the laptop that's at quite a distance from the hub.
2.4ghz would work much better at that distance only issue is the new hub doesn't allow you to split the frequency so we are unable fix this.
Few other issues that didn't exist with previous hub such as when turning a couple TV's on they struggle to find connection innitally, but connect after 3 minutes or so.
At this rate I'll be trying to downgrade back to the old hub 🤣. Anyone else had any similar experiences?
Thanks
Josh

@Josh129 As you have went sky Max then there is NO downgrade path back to the other operation!

Thanks Peter, good to know you haven't had issues as this may indicate that I have just been unlucky and have a faulty Hub, for an engineer coming out next week.

@Josh129 the Sky Max system uses a closed 5GHz signal between the pid extenders and the hub which works well in some properties but is not suited to houses with solid internal walls as the higher frequency signals lose more power when passing through masonarythan the 2.4GHz signals the older black hubs can use.
Hopefully the engineer can advise on optimising your set up.
