Sky Max Pods

Hi,

I'm recently a returning sky customer after a couple of years with the opposition!

I've taken out the sky max package as we live in quite an old property and wifi coverage is an issue that we cant seem to get around.

Sky have sent me one of their booster pods to help with this and stated that if i need any more, i can request them.

Upon setting the pod up yesterday, worked really well. Set it up with little to no effort, as the box explained i would.. and off i went, great signal to most rooms ( still need another one ideally )

This morning I've come downstairs and noticed that the light on the pod was flashing, meaning its no longer connected. I've tried around 10 times to connect the device now, moving it to different locations each time getting a little bit closer to the hub to hopefully get a connection, and it just will not connect for love nor money.

Any help would be appreciated, as the pod is now literally 2 feet away from the hub and still wont connect.

TIA

Lee

Re: Sky Max Pods

Hi, I am getting the exact same issue with my Sky Pod. The unit has been plugged into a wall socket literally 8 feet from the Sky Max router, and I'm still getting the white leds flashing. I suspect a faulty router (as my wifi network if woeful). Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated 👏

Re: Sky Max Pods

How do you request more pods?

@Violetwalk7 if you buy Wifi Max you need to call Sky and need more than one pod to get the guaranteed wifi speed of 10Mb/s if you are in a Superfast or 25Mb/s if on Ultrafast in every room. They will then arrange for one of their Broadband engineers to come out and run some tests and if they agree you will be sent upnto 2 more. The visit is useful as they will test signal levels in your home and advise on positioning of the hub and pods to get the best coverage.

Re: Sky Max Pods

New customer - specifically took out sky max and told them I would need 2 maybe 3 pods as we live in a barn conversion with thick walls. They didn't send any boosters and now I can't connect my ring door bell or my heating! The tv barely works! How do I get these pods I was promised when I took out sku? Otherwise I'll cancel and go back to BT! Please help I'm freezing!

@Hellaton read this https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-wifi-max but in practice Sky will send out one pod on request but more than that normally needs an engineer to have visited and agreed they are required. In larger properties with issues around thick walls you are probably better off buying your own WiFi system and using that in place of any ISPs solutions which work well in the average property but may not give you the coverage you need.

There are many on the market from cheap set ups like my own 3 unit set up to much faster units. Pretty easy to set up as Access Units simply connect one unit by Ethernet to the Sky hub and use the system's app to get the best coverage. It is sensible to turn off the Sky hub's wifi though. If youbdont need the rest of the WiFi Max services then reject that component of the subscription and save a frw pounds each month.

Re: Sky Max Pods

Same issues. Sky customer for 20+ years wish I had never bothered with the ultrafast fiberthe routers are rubbish and attenuated, the so called pods all either don't work or conflict with each other, I now have three pods in a house no bigger than 40ft long,3 up 3 down new(rubbish) build.. second wifi engineer visit today..lets see what he comes up with.. oh and I've had to replace my ring doorbell which I thought was faulty.. turns out the pod 2 feet away from the ring doorbell which is working won't connect to the bell but it's fine my bell connecting to the main hub 30 feet away!  Next step is to get rid of my so called contract

Re: Sky Max Pods

Full fibre max absolutely useless, engineer has been, and still having signal issues, despite him changing the router..ah well at least now with the issues I can end my contract
