Should I use Ethernet cable to router?

My Sky max broadband is horrendous. Constantly dropping out and low signal. I wish I'd kept my old router and service. I even have 2 pods and it's still not working.

Anyway, I need to find a solution - would an Ethernet cable to one of the pods or the router be the way to go? It would mean unsightly cable trailing around the house and down the stairs but I don't know what else to do.

Other suggestions welcome.

Re: Should I use Ethernet cable to router?

From the sheer number of similar compaints on these forums & my own experience, the whole Max eco system seems to be largely pants. I've no idea how they've managed that, given that the technology used is hardly cutting edge & all routers should put out roughly the same signal level. But i was getting a stronger signal from next door's SR203 than I did from the SR213!

I was already using a TP-Link Deco mesh system so just turned off the WiFi completely on the SR213. If you're paying £4pm for the "enhanced" Max service that includes the Pods, I'd knock that on the head & put the saving towards a mesh system.

Powerline network adapters may be a viable option.
