Share your 3rd party rig setups?

I am on FTTP(ONT with NBI) with a regular sky box. It's a big house so I'd like to install a couple wifi APs and plug a smart swith and run multiple cables across the house. The sky box is quite limiting for such endavour.

From what I understood I can use my 3rd party router, with some tweaks and requirments. However, I wonder what would be a setup to have provider's router ready to be pluged in, for the cases when I need support from them(line goes down(farmers rip the line time to time) or somethign being throttled etc). You know they have to put you through a list of steps before they escalate issue to a higher level of support(reset router, disconnect all devices, reinstall your OS, empty your bins etc). So, I'd liek to desiign a rig that would allow me quickly switch to the providers router. Preferably, it would be great if the rest of the network wouldn't go down or disconnected, so I assume it has to work akin to like load balancers work, where I either swith manualy to provder's router or when the main(3rd party router) is switched off the provider's takes over.

This migth all be too complicated. So I'd be just happy to hear what 3rd party routers you use that are compatible with SKY network(e.g. can autentificate through PPPoE(at leats as it shows to me in the router connection status) and other DHCP/PV6 james bond type of stuff).

Thanks in advance

Are you in ireland as you mention pppoe.  In the uk sky uses dhcp client identifier option 61 .

Loads of sky cust end up getting an asus rt ax wifi 6 or asus zenwifi mesh system

Yeah I am in Ireland. I read here that in UK you use IPoE. I wonder how much that affect router configurations?

I was hoping to go with TP-link Omada setup to be honest. Never had good experience with Asus gear, although I know some peopel swear by it. I don't even know if Asus has SDN solutions, do they?

Tplink should be fine.  The authentication is as follows

Username      anything@skydsl

Password       anything

And you'll need to enable vlan id and set it to 10

Re: Share your 3rd party rig setups?

I wonder if I could put providers router in between? I assume it would have to be a bridge mode? This woudl solve the problem I am trying to solve. Does Sky box support bridge mode? Don't see this setting in there. Also, will this void SKY's support?
