Set-up issues

Hi! We're new to the UK and just tried to set up our hub. We can't seem to get it right though... We tried to plug the cable that we got in the package to both the hub(WAN, nr 4) and to the open reach socket(mk4 with both a phone and router socket). What are we doing wrong? It's just showing a red light.

Thats quite impressive how you managed to jam an ethernet cable into an RJ11 port but hey ho. Your broadband looks like it should be supplied via an Openreach ONT (Fibre Modem) thats what the green cable hanging out of the wall would be plugged into. However many people take the boxes with them when they move, despite many having a sticker saying dont take it. Either way you'll need to contact Sky and tell them you are missing the ONT to plug into.

Haha it fit like a glove.

okay, thanks! Wouldn't I be able to just buy an ONT box and set it up myself?

I believe a particular serialised ONT is specifically linked to each optical circuit, so that's not going to work.  In any case, Openreach ONTs advertised for sale shouldn't be.
