Set up WiFi extender

Received a 'plug' extender and no idea what to do to make it work. All roads lead nowhere to get help. Hopeless and frustrated  73 yr old

Thanks so much Tim - however I did all that suggested going to set up then download app-then round in circles again. Still don't know how to set up!  Plug into Router-just stick the plug in?  I tried that and got lights briefly then just nothing.
