Router placement

New to Sky, engineer visited earlier, I was on the way back from holiday, my daughter met the engineer to fit the new router. My virgin router and heating, security camera hub were all located in the middle of the room with the old router. The Sky engineer didn't ask my daughter ask my daughter anything. He located the new hub directly behind the tv ? As in an inch away from the tv. Surely this is Sri g and the hub should of been fitted where the old one was, not only because it is away from any electrical devices but located to pick up all the other services that needed to be connected up ?

Re: Router placement

Thank you for all the above, spoke to openreach and they are going to move the router, well that's what they've said,  I'll keep my fingers crossed that they do 🤞🏻

@Madhouse68 ideally any WiFi router should be out in the open on a surface so it is above obvious obstrtructions. You are of course free to move the hub but you may need to buy a longer cable to connect it to the phone socket or ONT if ou have full fibre. Partial fibre requires a DSL cable with rj11 connectors and full fibrecan etgernet cable with rj45 connecters.

Re: Router placement

@Madhouse68 Install Engineers, they just do there thing and install the ONT Fibre modem if you did FF install, if existing copper Master Socket and it was at that location then that's where the hub is going to be, YOU get left to sort out the final position off the Sky Hub you have, but from your post YOU know were it needs to go! Difficult or not is always going to be that issue!
