Router Colour

Is the current Sky broadband router black or white ? Sounds daft but just want it to not stick out around the equipment I have at home

The most recent ('Max') model is white.  All three other currently supported Hubs are black.

To Google pictures, the models are:

Sky Max Hub (2023, default for all new FTTP connections)

Sky Broadband Hub (2019, mainstream)

Sky Q Hub (2016, widespread but approaching obsolescence)

Sky Hub(2013, obsolete)

For information, all new Sky Broadband orders from now on are likely to receive the white Max Hub by default.

Re: Router Colour

Mines just turned up. White. I wanted black. White does not go with anything in my lounge 😞

didn't think to ask what colour it would be. Wouldn't have gone with sky had I known.   Gonna have to hide it behind a curtain.

Re: Router Colour

I specifically didn't go with Sky for the fact it was white...

you do have a cooling off period so can cancel

The 2023 Max Hub is white, while the 2019 Sky Broadband Hub and 2016 Q Hub are black.  To receive a black Hub you'd need to accept older hardware (which Sky won't offer anyway)

Re: Router Colour

I've just joined Sky and they're sending me the black router. It's sky full fibre.

@DaveM500 if you are a new customer that is unusual as normally new full fibre customers get white Sky Max hub but existing customers upgrading get to keep the black Sky Hub they already have perhaps there is a stock shortage.

Both models connect at similar speeds. The white hub has faster WiFi as it supports WiFi6 but is very locked down but in practicecthst is a relatively minor difference. Many people find the black hubs have better range but in my tests the two are roughly equal . The black hubs support the Sky Q boxes allowing them to act as WiFi hotspots which the white hubs can't.

Customers dont get a choice you get what you are given
