Request: Adjust Placement of New Openreach External Box Before Drilling
Hi,
I had an Openreach external grey box installed today for my Sky broadband, but it’s positioned too high on the wall. If drilled through the centre, the indoor entry point will also be too high for our preferred location.
We’ve recently renovated our living room, so we’d like the grey box to be placed next to the existing brown box on the outside wall at the same lower level, ideally reusing the existing hole (currently sealed with clear silicone) to keep the installation neat. If this is not possible I would like confirmation that the drill location entry point will be positioned underneath the external grey box.
Can this be arranged before the next stage of installation?
Please also confirm the indoor box will be at the same lower level as the existing box with no visible internal cables.
Thanks,
Mark

Re: Request: Adjust Placement of New Openreach External Box Before Drilling
Sky won't respond in this forum, not could they give you meaningful assurances on either of those points.
The pigtail entry point typically isn't put directly behind the CSP: that's difficult (but not impossible) given the internal structure of the box and the minimum bend radius of optical fibre.
There are always visible cables for optical connection, power and ethernet at a modern UK Openreach ONT because the entry points are on the bottom edge.
ONTs are usually located higher on the wall than master phone sockets to allow for these cable points and to reduce damage from things like vacuum cleaners.
