Replacement Sky Max Hub

I can't access my hub as it shows username or password incorrect.

Auto setup results in retaining the old hub SSID - should I try the new hub details.

@TechmanagerMal by using the user name admin and the default wifi passcode which works on my hub. The admin password defaults to the same value as thecwifi password but is a separate field and doesn't chsnge ifvthe SSID and WiFi passcode is chsnged.

Re: Replacement Sky Max Hub

@TechmanagerMal Did you have a sky Max hub before the replacement, if so and you did use the Auto then expect the SSID and the Old password to be effective on the new Max unit! Saves recreating all the connections again!

Re: Replacement Sky Max Hub

@JimM1

Yes it is replacing Sky Max but the original name and password don't let me in the hub admin.

What happens if I use the new hub credentials.

Re: Replacement Sky Max Hub

@TechmanagerMal As the unit has two password's you may find that the admin password has not been changed and that it is only the wireless wi-fi so once you get in match the password for the admin one! Hopefully you do still have both the units! Thats if it is possible to do so with using the app not even sure as do not use!

Re: Replacement Sky Max Hub

@Chrisee  Limitations of the My Sky App for Sky Max Router
• Advanced WiFi Configuration
• You can’t manually adjust channel settings or frequency bands (like switching between 2.4GHz and 5GHz).
• No access to advanced firewall or port forwarding settings.
• Custom SSID Features
• While you can rename your WiFi network and change the password, you can’t create multiple SSIDs or guest networks with custom access rules through the app alone.
• Real-Time Traffic Monitoring
• The app doesn’t show detailed bandwidth usage per device or allow you to throttle speeds.
• Firmware Updates
• You can’t manually trigger firmware updates or view firmware version history.
• Device-Level Security Controls
• You can pause devices and set downtimes, but you can’t apply custom security rules or block specific websites per device.
• Router Logs & Diagnostics
• No access to system logs, error reports, or diagnostic tools for troubleshooting deeper issues.

@TechmanagerMal however none of those functions can be controlled from the web interface which is why there is no great gain in accessing it. The only user setting in the web interface is the control to switch UPnP on or off.

The faxt Sky lock down many settings on their hubs is a separate matter you will have to take up with them. If users need greater control they should use a third party router.

Re: Replacement Sky Max Hub

@Chrisee As my latest hub is a replacement Wifi Max hub the system SSID has retained the old username and password as far as all devices connected or new added are concerned as expected.

Using admin and the new hub supplied password lets me in.

Thanks, enjoy the points.

Re: Replacement Sky Max Hub

@TechmanagerMal If you are SR213 Sky Max hub now from the old trusty SR203 Sky Broadband Hub, completely different animals and what you could do before with the old one, is NO where near with the latest as you have found that out, it's all app based for mobile connection so whatever you can see and do with the app that's about it. Web manager to the new Max is dead and burried....

If you run up against stability or 5Ghz networking issues, think both WPA and High 5Ghz Auto Channel..... Help link on the Max below may be usefull to take a look at!
