Remote access settings disappeared from router admin page

Hi,

as I've mentioned before. I have dodgy neighbours, that I would not put anything past, and having been away recently I just wanted to recheck the security on my wifi settings. For a start I can't find the remote access settings at all, anywhere, they are just not there on the router admin page at all, have they been removed? Also should WPS be set to configured or unconfigured in default settings? as mine were set to configured and I did not set this. Does configured mean that anyone within a certain range can just log onto my wifi without a password? I live in the bottom cottage flat and it is basically a house converted into two flats, so we are at very close range. these people would do anything they could get away with. Anything! And they are nosey beyond what can be considered normal or healthy! Put it this way they would definitely be accessing my wifi if they could, be it to snoop or steal. I actually, genuinely wouldnt care if they were just hijacking the wifi to use as it doesnt cost me any more, but I am having loads of problems with connection since I came back home from being away. Thanks in advance , Im very grateful for any replies and help

I believe that the option for remote access has been removed from Hub models prior to the white Max Hub because it no longer complies with UK regulation* of internet-connected devices.

*The Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure (PSTI) Act 2022 and the PSTI (Security Requirements for Relevant Connectable Products) Regulations 2023

@Anonymous If you also look at the connected devices it will show what is connected to the Hub, does not always get it 100% correct, but if you know yours then it is a compare and see!

Re: Remote access settings disappeared from router admin page

  • Thanks Jim, I do do this, but I'm aware that this can also be bypassed by the tech savvy. Apparently there are ways that devices can be logged into the network without showing up on the listed devices or their mac address. Annoying, I know!  Or they could log in and out without trace as there is no history available either. Anyway it is what it is, I'm not worrying about it 😀
  • I was confused about the missing remote settings page but now I know it's been removed.
