Previous owners still seem to have a sky account preventing us from opening a new one

Previous owners still seem to have a sky account preventing us from opening a new one. Sky operative says he can't close it unless previous occupant tell them that they have moved, but they say they don't have an active account. How can I get this resolved? I own the house now.

@Worthman  You can't do anything I'm afraid it's up to the previous owners to sort with sky by either cancelling or transferring thier account 

 

if the previous owners are saying they don't have an active account then I would challenge them as they have not cancelled or transferred their account

They claim they no longer have one. There must be a way to remove someone else's account from my property.

In fact, I closed mine over 2 years ago when I moved, yet my account is still linked to it, so it could be sky not deleting dead accounts.

@Worthman Although you may still be able to access your previous account showing your old address it would have been closed if you had been away from sky for 18 months or more meaning you would need to create a new account as a new customer so that isn't the issue here 

 

if the previous owner has any outstanding sky debt then that will be a possible explanation 

 

as for a solution afaik there is not one and I've asked a sky contact for clarification via closed forum
